SC 85:  Risk of Lung Cancer from Radon

The Committee is rewriting NCRP Report No. 78, Evaluation of Occupational and Environmental Exposures to Radon and Radon Daughters in the United States. Since NCRP Report No. 78 was published, significant new data and reviews have become available. The draft report of SC 85 was forwarded for review by Council members in May 2002. The report was revised following Council review. A complete revised draft report has been received from the Chairman and is being prepared for PAC review. The Board of Directors at its meeting on December 8-9, 2005, determined that the revised draft report will be resubmitted for Council review.  The updated draft report submitted by the SC 85 Chair was reviewed earlier in 2009 by members of the Committee. A WebEx teleconference of the Committee was held on October 5, 2009 to discuss the path forward in revising and completing the report. A meeting of several members was held at the NCRP offices on March 15-16 to discuss the most recent version of the report, and the path forward in updating it.
